Methods Evaluated

  1. Meta Robots Tag (noindex)

Adding a <meta name=”robots” content=”noindex”> tag to the <head> section of the HTML instructs search engines not to index the page. This is a widely accepted and reliable method when combined with proper crawling permissions.

  1. robots.txt Directive (Disallow)

Blocking a URL in robots.txt prevents crawlers from accessing it. However, this method does not always result in de-indexing—particularly if the page is already indexed and the crawler is now unable to see the noindex tag.

Additional Considerations
